Coloratura arrives on PlayStation 5: an adventure you can play with your eyes closed
Nakama Game Studio's game asks you to explore through sound and piece a musical composition back together. Its cinematic trailer premiered on Tuesday at Madrid in Game.
Coloratura, developed by Nakama Game Studio and published by DOJO System, is out now on PlayStation 5 for €14.99.
Alex is a young musician who loses her sight in an accident. Through her memories and the places she knows, she sets out to rebuild the piece she dreamed of composing. To go with her, the player has to listen: sound is what lets you find your bearings, recognise a space and solve the puzzles you come across along the way.
The music is built as you play, too. Every puzzle adds a part of the soundtrack, and the player's choices shape the composition that will be performed in the closing concert.
Coloratura uses 3D audio so you can tell where a sound is coming from and how far away it is. Headphones are recommended, and the experience can be completed with your eyes closed. On PlayStation 5 the game makes use of the console's 3D audio and supports the PlayStation Access controller.
The project began life as a game jam prototype. On Tuesday 27 October it was presented at the Madrid in Game Experience Center, in Casa de Campo, where the audience saw its cinematic trailer for the first time.
