Summer Game Fest | Former Fable Dev’s ‘Ascend’ Bringing Astrological Adventures to PC on August 28

Just announced during the Women-Led Games showcase at Summer Game Fest: astrological adventures await in Ascend, the zodiac puzzle game coming August 28 on PC!

Indie developer Miami Avalon is over the moon to announce the release date of astrological adventure puzzle game Ascend, coming to Steam on August 28, 2025. Combining themes of tarot, astrology, and mysticism, a grand, meditative experience is (quite literally) on the cards.

As protagonist Aurora, you’ve watched your world descend into chaos and ruin and want to change its fate. By embarking on a perilous quest up a mystical mountain, you hope to be the first to complete this journey successfully, and restore your home to a harmonious state.

Aurora’s potential is written in the stars, but Ascend players must help her unlock it through a series of zodiac trials. Each constellation challenge is intricate, tricky, and will test your logic and problem-solving abilities, so you’ll need to approach these puzzles from all angles to progress.

Those who make headway towards the mountain’s peak will be rewarded with a rich and introspective narrative as Aurora reflects on the myths of her world and the remnants of past pilgrims. Meanwhile, Ascend’s unique time-turning mechanic can unlock further lore snippets and secrets, as you move between Day, Twilight, and Dusk to affect the landscape and reveal what’s hidden.

Key Features of Ascend

  • Written in the Stars: Steeped in mysticism, the game’s challenges are tied to the constellations, lore is connected to celestial bodies, and symbology and art from tarot cards is found throughout.

  • If You Could Turn Back Time: Time and the past are key themes of the game as Aurora’s time-turning ability allows her to move between times of day to uncover secrets and new paths. The tales of previous adventurers and a lost civilization also decorate the world.

  • Reflect, Balance, and Meditate: The game’s richly woven narrative encourages introspection, reflection and self-discovery for both the player and a protagonist who also grapples with anxiety.
