Supergiant and Game Music Festival release Hades: Ballads of the Underworld concert film free on YouTube

Game Music Festival and Supergiant Games has today released Ballads of the Underworld, a full concert film celebrating the music of Hades and Hades II, free to watch on YouTube.

The release marks the sixth anniversary of Hades and follows the concert’s premiere at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 27 June 2026. Produced officially in collaboration with Supergiant Games, Ballads of the Underworld brought the vocal music of Hades and Hades II to one of London’s most prestigious concert venues, with new arrangements created especially for Game Music Festival and premiered live by a world-class ensemble of performers.

The performance features original vocalists Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett, alongside Judy Alice Lee, Erin Yvette and Colin Ryan, with the London Mozart Players led by Grammy-nominated and BAFTA-winning conductor Austin Wintory. Together, they bring to life the soulful laments, hymns and siren songs that have accompanied Zagreus and Melinoë on their perilous expeditions.

„The music of Hades has such a strong identity and such a devoted audience,” says Mateusz Pawlak, Founder of Game Music Festival. “We’re so happy to be able to give this performance a life beyond the concert hall and make it available to everyone. It was an incredible privilege to work with such a brilliant group of vocalists, musicians and creatives and to capture the performance for audiences around the world.”

Ballads of the Underworld is the second of two major Game Music Festival collaborations from 2026 to receive a high-quality audio-visual recording release. In June, GMF produced The Infernal Symphony, the official Diablo 30th Anniversary concert, in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment.

Presented at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 6 June 2026, The Infernal Symphony celebrated three decades of Diablo with new arrangements created especially by Game Music Festival and premiered live by the London Mozart Players and Hertfordshire Chorus. The concert was guided by maestro Marek Wroniszewski, with arrangements by Ignacy Wojciechowski, with very special guests including Diablo lead composer Ted Reedy and music director Derek Duke attending and hosting panels.

The performance also brought original Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred soloists to the stage, with vocalists and instrumentalists including Uyanga Bold, Asja Kadric, Rosa Fragorapti and Callum Armstrong. Their live contributions, alongside the orchestra, chorus, arrangers, engineers and production teams, have now been captured in the official soundtrack, allowing audiences to experience the concert beyond the Royal Festival Hall.

The official soundtrack, Diablo: The Infernal Symphony (Official 30th Anniversary Live Concert), was released on 27 August 2026 and is now available on all major digital streaming platforms as a permanent addition to the Blizzard Music catalogue:

With both full concerts now available, Game Music Festival is extending the life of its live productions beyond the concert hall - creating lasting audio-visual records of official franchise celebrations, as well as new opportunities for audiences to connect with the music and the people who made it.

“A concert is only one way of connecting people with game music,” Pawlak continues. “The most exciting projects happen when the music becomes the starting point for something bigger - a live performance, a film, a record, a conversation or a completely new kind of audience experience. Our job is to find the right format for the music and the people who made it.”

These releases demonstrate the breadth of Game Music Festival’s work. Alongside producing official concerts with major game creators and publishers, GMF develops filmed performances, new live arrangements, composer and creator conversations, masterclasses, panels, soundtrack releases, physical music projects and collaborations with orchestras, cultural institutions and music partners.

Founded in 2018, Game Music Festival exists to champion video-game music as an art form deserving of the same stage and respect as film scores and classical music. Its productions have brought together world-class venues, performers, composers, arrangers, orchestras, developers, publishers and audiences from around the world.
