PlayFusion Unleashes New ASCENDANT trailer
PlayFusion, the indie misfits out of Cambridge led by ex-RuneScape rebels, just dropped a new trailer for ASCENDANT - their neon-drenched, PvPvE fever dream releasing this year. It's tactical mayhem with a biopunk soul, where capture-the-flag gets shot full of amber, rage, and 1980s attitude.
This is capture-the-flag if it was raised by wolves. Set in a post-apocalyptic, biopunk hellscape soaked in neon, synths, and mutant blood, ASCENDANT throws players into brutal firefights for control of Biocores - precious energy sources that are the only thing keeping your decaying Shade from flatlining.
You’ll wake up from a thousand-year cryo-nap and immediately get slapped by ruthless opponents, feral mutant wildlife, and environments that hate your existence. And here’s the kicker: every match is different. Maps evolve. Events trigger mid-fight. Biocores shift location. And that smug strategy you perfected last round? Good luck. The only rule is “Adapt or die.”
The latest trailer showcases the game’s signature insanity: firefights that go from surgical to explosive in seconds, procedurally shifting arenas, and apex predators like the Gorlizard - a towering mutant beast that eats plans for breakfast. You’ll also get a glimpse of the fully modular weapon crafting system, which lets players build their own absurd Franken-guns with over 3 million combinations. Want a poison-spitting SMG or a sniper that shoots explosives? Cool. Build it. Just don’t cry when someone shows up with something worse.
Key Features:
Strategic Mayhem - Think you’ve mastered CTF? Think again. Fight for three Biocores in four-team death zones where players vote to unleash match-altering chaos - like a Mycopocalypse or a single-core showdown.
Dynamic Environments - The map isn’t just a backdrop - it’s a co-conspirator. Trigger toxic storms, drop an airstrike, or get third-partied by a beast the size of a building. No two matches. No second chances.
Deep Customization - Forge your loadout with neon-soaked 80s flair and modded weaponry that breaks the Geneva Convention. Fashion and firepower, equally loud.
Persistent Social Hub - Flex in the lobby, settle beefs in the Thunderdome, or just chill before diving back into the grind. Leaderboards, loadouts, and locker-room trash talk included.
