Nine Dots Studio is excited to announce that their long-awaited adventure RPG, Outward 2, launches into Early Access on July 7th, 2026. In celebration of the momentous occasion, the team has put together a trailer showcasing gameplay that will be a treat for all PC patrons out there-from those with top-of-the-line gaming stations, to those with more modest, yet trusty rigs. Outward 2 will be available in early access on Windows PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on July 7th. However, players will have a chance to play the game early during the Closed Beta starting on May 26th.
Today, Nine Dots Studio shared an exclusive gameplay overview as part of IGN Fan Fest 2026, offering players a deeper look at Outward 2. The brand-new gameplay video offers a glimpse into what players may encounter along their unique journeys and how the immersive, grounded action-RPG encourages them to think and prepare before taking on the challenges they will face.
Today, Nine Dots proudly revealed new Outward 2 details about the game’s development and features to come, influenced by learnings from its predecessor, during the New Game Plus Showcase: a creator-led, highly curated digital showcase that aims to highlight some of the most anticipated games coming soon. Outward 2, the upcoming sequel to Outward-which launched in 2019 and recently surpassed 3 million players-is an open-world fantasy RPG that continues to defy typical expectations of the genre and promises to deliver the definitive adventure simulator. Outward 2 will launch in early access for Windows PC later this summer.
Nine Dots Studio announced today that an upcoming Steam playtest for Outward 2 will run from Tuesday, December 9th to Monday, December 15th, during which a portion of the game will be available for members of the community to play. The Québec-based team revealed the playtest dates with a new announcement video that features glimpses of the elusive underground city of Haboob, which fans have been speculating on for years.
