No-Mercy Deckbuilder, Death Howl, Becomes Even More Merciless With the Rebirth Update

With its blend of unforgiving soulslike difficulty and open-world deck-building, Death Howl - the recent release from The Outer Zone and published by 11 bit studios - caught the attention of players who don’t shy away from a challenge. Now, with the free Rebirth Update, the journey through the Spirit World gets even tougher, introducing empowered enemies, reworked cards, and revamped battles alongside the new Rebirth Mode.

Rebirth Mode, which unlocks after completing the initial playthrough, is all about survival of the fittest. Enemies come equipped with new abilities and increased health, while Realmless cards are transformed with new names, effects, and visuals. As Ro continues her journey through a more dangerous-than-ever Spirit World, still grappling with the loss of her son, she’ll also take on a new look, donning a blue robe.

And if that still isn’t enough, Custom Mode raises the stakes even further. Unlocked after completing Rebirth Mode, it lets you tweak a wide range of settings: adjust the health of both enemies and Ro, choose which cards are available, add restrictions, modify penalties, and more.

On top of that, the core game also sees a round of balance changes, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.

Death Howl, with the new, free Rebirth Update, is available on PC, consoles, and through Xbox Game Pass.
