2025 PMGC Group Stage Kicks Off After an Intense Gauntlet Stage

The PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC) Gauntlet Stage has concluded following 18 thrilling matches pitting some of the world’s most elite teams against each other, with seven teams now confirmed for the Grand Finals in Bangkok, Thailand. Only nine slots remain, meaning the remaining teams will have to brawl it out across the Group Stage and Last Chance Stage to prove themselves as worthy contenders for the Champion title and take home the lion’s share of the $3,000,000 prize pool.

Day One of the Gauntlet Stage got off to an electrifying start as ThunderTalk Gaming from the Peacekeeper Elite League (PEL) dominated the competition. Close on their heels, Madbulls claimed second place with 67 points, while R8 Esports rounded out the top three with 57 points.

The competition began to heat up on Day Two, as ThunderTalk Gaming continued to lead, extending their advantage with 120 points and three Chicken Dinners. Kara Esports delivered a standout performance, vaulting into second place with 112 points, while 2024 PMWC champions Alpha7 secured fifth place with 76 points, including two Chicken Dinners.

Day Three saw Kara Esports from Turkey claim third with 141 points and 99 eliminations, while Madbulls secured fourth with 140 points and two Chicken Dinners. ThunderTalk Gaming from the PEL finished the Gauntlet Stage strong, taking second place overall with 147 points and three Chicken Dinners.

In the end, R8 Esports came out on top of the Gauntlet Stage after displaying their might across the adrenaline-filled three days. After tearing up the scoreboard with 154 points and two chicken dinners, fans worldwide will be watching to see if they can replicate this in the Grand Finals.

DRX also impressed viewers after ranking in 8th place, racking up an impressive 110 points. Despite not coming out on top of the leaderboard, their feats earned them a spot in the Grand Finals, where they’ll get another chance to beat out D’xavier and all other contenders. Among those, however, are Alpha7 Esports, who may just have a chance to shine again after their PMWC victory last year.

For the nine teams that didn’t make it into the Grand Finals from the Gauntlet Stage, they will be split into Groups Green and Red to fight off the 23 other qualified teams, kicking off with Group Green on November 28th - 30th, followed by Group Red on December 2nd - 4th. The top three teams from each group will earn a slot in the Grand Finals, while the bottom five teams from each group will be eliminated and sent home. Teams placing 4th - 11th in each group will get one final opportunity in the Last Chance Stage to qualify for the last two spaces in the Grand Finals and earn the Champion title.

Only the strongest performing teams globally earn the right to compete and take their shot at the PMGC trophy, earning the title of worldwide Champions for the year and marking their place in PUBG MOBILE Esports history. For the first time ever, this year’s PMGC combines with the PUBG Global Championship under the banner of PUBG UNITED 2025, blending the PC and mobile games into one historic event.

The 2025 PMGC also sees Infinix partner with PUBG MOBILE as the Official Gaming Phone of the tournament. "Infinix is proud to partner with the 2025 PUBG MOBILE Global Championship in Thailand as the Official Gaming Phone Partner. With the GT 30 Pro, we aim to redefine mobile gaming experiences and empower a new generation of gamers to push boundaries, embrace creativity, and realise their full potential," said an Infinix representative.

PUBG MOBILE took home a win of its own at the 2025 Esports Awards last week, being named Esports Mobile Game of the Year. The award celebrates the achievements PUBG MOBILE Esports has made over the past year as it continues to develop a thriving ecosystem, with a peak viewership of 1.3 million viewers worldwide in 2025. This marks the second time PUBG MOBILE has won, also claiming the award in 2022.
