Top Hat Studios kicks off Summer of Gaming by debuting survival horror BECROWNED and new trailers for viral hits
Top Hat Studios, hot off of the successful release of the acclaimed Labyrinth of The Demon King, has kicked off Summer of Gaming by debuting new announcements in the Media Indie Exchange's Summer Showcase, which streamed on Day 1 of IGN's Summer of Gaming event.
These announcements include the debut publishing reveal of psychological survival horror adventure BECROWNED, and new trailers for viral indie sensations MOTORSLICE and SILLY POLLY BEAST. The two later titles were announced for publishing during Top Hat Studios's publisher showcase this past April.
BECROWNED
The slate of new reveals at the Summer Showcase kicked off with the publishing reveal for BECROWNED, which came alongside the debut of a brand new trailer introducing the world and premise of the game.
Inspired by both Silent Hill as well as classic horror cinema, BECROWNED is a surreal survival horror adventure that mixtures traditional survival horror gameplay with unique narrative direction and in-game cinematography. As a player, you follow Richard Torrance, a man of rational and unbreakable character who has lived his life in the shadow of his goals and desires. BECROWNED uniquely mixes unorthodox dark fantasy with modern industrial horror in a surreal, David Lynch-esque manner, drawing on philosophical themes of love, family, and more. Explore locations filled with secrets. Solve puzzles, manage your resources wisely, and avoid unnecessary fights. Who knows what terrible creature might be lurking around the next corner…
MOTORSLICE
In addition, a major new reveal premiered for over-the-top, anime parkour action-adventure MOTORSLICE; it was meant to just be a regular job for "P" - but things are never that simple. Along her journey, she'll need to jump, wall-run and slice her way through labyrinthian structures and foes - and deal with the big bosses that dominate the landscape.
Among these bosses is a unique foe revealed at The Mix Summer Game Showcase. One of the most imposing villains that P will have to race to find - and Motorslice her way through - is a gigantic, really, really big boss mecha. And, not just a really, really big mecha, but one who maybe has some other ideas about exploring the place. ..
Parkour through the ruins of a megastructure, climb massive bosses, and hunt down every piece of construction equipment in this anime parkour slice of life action-adventure with immaculate vibes. More news for about the game's launch window are expected in coming months.
SILLY POLLY BEAST
Also featured during The Mix Summer Game Showcase was a new trailer for SILLY POLLY BEAST. In this narrative-driven action-adventure, you'll follow the story of a girl, who, by the will of fate, faced the beast - and in order to become free, was forced to study its nature. The new trailer dives into Polly's dark and twisted underworld, and explores some of the game's environments, opponents, and machinations of the "Fog" covered abyss. It also explores game mechanics such as skateboarding, puzzles, and transitions between top-down and side-scrolling segments.
Silly Polly. Stupid, silly Polly - you've ruined everything. Want a cracker? An action-horror game filled with aggressive gunfights and terrifying monsters, SILLY POLLY BEAST is the tale of a girl with nothing, who is forced to face the abyss in her journey to recover the one single thing that means something to her - Alice. The game is expected to release in the fall of 2025.
