The Tarantula Joins the Huntsman Ahead of Launch
Ten Image Publishing and OnTheHouse Studios today revealed the Tarantula, the last arachnid type featuring in Huntsman, launching on PC on 27th November at 5pm GMT / 9am PST / 12pm EST. The fourth and final part of Creature Features, focusing on the tarantula, is here.
The game can be wishlisted here.
Bigger. Faster. Deadlier. No spider in the history of Atherton Labs’ misguided experimentations has instilled such fear and regret in its makers, and now that nightmare is loose. Joining the huntsman, orb weaver and trapdoor types, the tarantula is in a class of its own and many of you will not make it out alive on November 27th.
Players will encounter the tarantula in a number of locations throughout their hellish escape from Atherton Labs’ Experimental BioSolutions Division. Predominantly a solitary hunter, the tarantula will tolerate other spider types nearby, but the same cannot be said for wandering humans. Its burrow and hunting grounds are lined with webbing to both detect and trap its prey; avoid this at all costs, and use distractions where possible.
Creature Features Series
Episode One looks at the huntsman spider, a fast moving type that appears throughout the game and hunts prey using noise, especially from fast moving footsteps. Cautious players can often sneak by. Clever players can use the environment to distract hungry arachnids.
Episode Two focuses on the orb weaver spider, an aerial assassin that snatches slow moving prey from above and cocoons them alive in silken webs. While orb weavers don’t stray from their hiding spot, they are often difficult to spot in darkened areas, meaning players need to look up. Throwable objects can cause them to temporarily retreat.
Episode Three examines the trapdoor spider, a subterranean nightmare with a camouflaged lair and lightning quick reflexes. While its range may be limited, the trapdoor spider is rarely alone and carelessness will cost you everything. If you suspect a trapdoor spider is nearby, throw something into the area and see if you can detect a burrow.
Ten Image founder, Chris White, said, “Our launch date is looming on the horizon with all the menace of a giant huntsman spider, ready to pounce. The reception to the demo was incredible and the tens of thousands of players who started to unravel the mystery of Atheron Labs provided amazing feedback.”
The full game will launch on Steam on 27th November.
