The cozy city-builder Zlín City: Arch Moderna reached Alpha stage. Watch the newest Making Of Video, where developers discuss this milestone.

In a time when things are being artificially generated, Zlín City bets on the beauty of imperfection and an unmistakable human touch. It draws inspiration from model railways, children's toys, and classic puppet animation.

Add the game to your wishlist on Steam to support developers, and not to miss any news about this unique project.

See what developers have to say about the Project

We see Zlín City as a beginning. For us, it is the first major step and, at the same time, a test of what we can create. However, we already see great potential for the future, both in the further development of the game and in building a community around 3D printing and gaming in general.

Our players are mainly modelers and miniature painting enthusiasts, but also people who want to unwind with a game and enjoy a slower pace. Within the team, we sometimes refer to the game as a Czech "Toy Story." It has a playful world, a unique atmosphere, and a story that lets players learn a bit of history in a natural, organic way.

In addition to two music composers and modelers, our team also includes a historian who ensures everything feels authentic and true to the era.

How is the Game Played?

Zlín City combines multiple genres. On one hand, there are peaceful, creative building games like Tiny Glade; on the other, classic city-building strategies in the style of SimCity.

However, buildings aren't the only things that play an important role; the citizens of the diorama matter just as much. The player doesn't just manage construction, but an entire tiny world that gradually grows and comes to life.

Why Physical Models?

Authenticity and a certain imperfection are fundamental to us. Small details like paint drips, brush strokes, glue marks, or slightly damaged edges give the models a character that is very difficult to replicate on a computer. It is precisely these imperfections that bring a human touch to the game.

Equally important is the fact that the resulting models can live on outside the game. We aim to use them in workshops and exhibitions, or share them with children and others who love to create.

Alpha Stage
Game development is incredibly demanding, both in terms of time and finances. So far, we are funding most of it ourselves, but we want to involve people who enjoy Zlín City just as much as we do. At the same time, we would love to give our supporters a behind-the-scenes peek at development, allow them to get involved in how the game is created, and invite them to join us on this journey from the very beginning. We put a lot of care into our content, which you can check out here: https://www.zlincity.com/alpha.
