Rack up points, enter flow state in major demo update for arcade roguelike KAZ

Today, publisher HAKURO and indie developer Kalinarm have released a major demo update for KAZ, the dopamine-fueled minimalist arcade roguelike that blends fast reflexes with hypnotic, ever-evolving visuals.

At its core, KAZ is about finding your flow, whether that means reacting at breakneck speed or carefully plotting your next move like a tactical mastermind who definitely isn’t panicking internally. The latest demo update introduces No Stress mode, a new way to play that removes time pressure entirely and replaces it with limited moves as you strategically plot a course across its grid-based board.

Players can now experiment with 7 new themes, including winners from the game’s community UGC contest. Each theme comes with its own gameplay-altering ability, opening up entirely new ways to play.

The update also expands the game’s item pool and maluses, with new additions bringing even more variety to each run. Between items, boosts, spells, and consumables, the right combination can carry you deep into increasingly absurd rounds.

KAZ’s audiovisual feedback has also been reworked, with updated score gauge animations and sound design that better reinforce the game’s rhythm-driven flow state. With more than 10 interactive music tracks, the higher your score climbs, the more the soundtrack evolves alongside you.

The update includes built-in Twitch integration too, allowing streamers to connect their channel and let their chat vote on item choices after each round for maximum chaos.
