Phasmophobia Developer Kinetic Games Sponsors Southampton FC
Today, Kinetic Games is excited to announce a multi-year sponsorship of its local haunt, Southampton Football Club.
After the continued spine-tingling success of the Southampton-based studio’s hit horror game Phasmophobia, which surpassed 25 million sales in 2025, the team has set its sights on initiatives to empower its local community - starting with its home football team.
Based in Hampshire, Southampton FC competes in the English Football League (EFL) Championship and is one of the most established clubs in the UK, operating since 1885. Kinetic Games’ sponsorship of the club will see Phasmophobia’s ghostly imagery appearing across St. Mary’s stadium, on the big screen, in backdrops for interviews, and more.
“I’ve been a lifelong fan of Southampton FC, so being able to sponsor the club I’ve followed for years is a surreal experience,” said Daniel Knight, CEO of Kinetic Games and Game Director of Phasmophobia. “It also shows how far we’ve come as a studio. Being able to support a football team like this is something we never anticipated as an option for us, and we’re just so grateful to our players for allowing Phasmophobia to reach the heights it has today.”
“We’re pleased to partner with Kinetic Games, a homegrown studio that embodies the same passion and innovation we champion here at Southampton Football Club,” says Greg Baker, Chief Revenue Officer for Southampton Football Club. “This collaboration underlines our belief in local talent and our shared vision to help put Southampton’s creative and tech sectors on the global map.”

Beyond this sponsorship, Kinetic Games plans to continue expanding its involvement in local charities and foundations. The studio will also soon offer internships to budding developers in an effort to bolster its local game development scene.
“We want to show our support for local clubs, organisations, and talent - and as our studio has grown, we recognise that we’re now in a great position to do just that,” said Asim Tanvir, Director of Marketing & Partnerships at Kinetic Games. “In 2026, not only do we plan to launch Phasmophobia into 1.0 for all the dedicated fans who’ve stuck with the game for years, but we also have big plans to support the broader games industry through our new publishing arm, as well as continue to empower our local community.”
This follows last month’s announcement of Kinetic Publishing, Kinetic Games’ new dedicated publishing arm. The newly established team will provide creative, financial, and marketing support to up-and-coming game developers, while the core development team at Kinetic Games will continue work on Phasmophobia.
Kinetic Games’ sponsorship of Southampton FC fits into the studio’s broader plans for 2026, which will see the 1.0 launch of Phasmophobia, as well as the game’s launch on Switch 2. Ghost hunters looking to stay up-to-date can follow along on the Kinetic Games Website.
