Independent developer Cyber Temple has unveiled a March 12, 2026 release date for their upcoming survival city-builder DarkSwitch. The trailer, which debuted at PC Gaming Show Most Wanted 2025 offers the most intense look yet at the unnerving mysteries lurking beneath the treetop city. The new footage expands the world introduced in the demo, highlighting deeper narrative threads, unseen dangers emerging, and the escalating stakes facing the treetop-city that clings to life.
The trailer premiered today at the PC Gaming Show Most Wanted 2025, reinforcing its status as one of 2026’s most anticipated productions in the genre. At its core, DarkSwitch is a vertical survival city builder set atop a colossal tree, high above the lethal fog that has consumed civilization and threatens the city’s very own existence. While players continue to develop their settlement, story-driven quests, time-sensitive expeditions, and dynamic fog surges can shift entire strategies in a moment. The main antagonist is an enigmatic fog, which impacts citizens’ health and morale, and is modeled using custom voxel grid technology, creating dynamic and unpredictable fog shifts. A once-thriving society faced a life-threatening enemy when this mysterious mist swept across the lands, warping their minds and consuming everything. In a desperate attempt for survival, those who still stood fled upwards towards the treetops, and rebuilt their homes above the deadly haze. The game’s heavy atmosphere is paired with ambisonic audio cues that intensify the sense of dread, all woven together by the haunting compositions of legendary musician Akira Yamaoka.
