New Strategos Demo Available Now ahead of Next Fest
MicroProse today announced the launch of the new free Strategos demo on Steam, giving players their first opportunity to experience the upcoming real-time tactics wargame set in classical antiquity.
The demo offers a small but potent taste of the scale and tactical depth awaiting in the full release. Players can command four historically distinct factions - Polybian Romans, Late Carthaginians, Pyrrhic Greeks, and Late Successor Macedonians- across three maps with default army sizes. Each force demonstrates unique battlefield doctrines, strengths, and weaknesses that defined ancient warfare.
Polybian Romans: disciplined heavy infantry and resilient Triarii reserves, but limited cavalry.
Pyrrhic Greeks: powerful pikemen and elephants supported by versatile auxiliaries.
Late Carthaginians: unmatched flexibility, fielding diverse units from Iberian infantry to African elephants.
Late Successor Macedonians: formidable pike formations and elite Agyraspides, less mobile but deadly in formation
Players can experiment with tactics, formation control, and morale management as they test their generalship in large-scale, real-time ancient battles.
Strategos features over 120 factions and 250+ units in its full version, spanning centuries of classical warfare - from the Persian Wars to the rise of Imperial Rome.
The demo is available now on Steam, ahead of Steam Next Fest, where players can engage with the developers, provide feedback, and help shape the game’s final release.
