Mountain Climbing Simulator Climber: Sky is the Limit Announced

Pack warm, grab a map, and get climbing as A2 Softworks and Art Games Studio have announced their Gamescom 2021 nominated, first-person simulator Climber: Sky is the Limit, coming to Steam and Kickstarter later this year. Climber is a high stakes adventure where players become winter climbers looking to conquer the world’s most formidable peaks. The Kickstarter campaign is slated to begin in the coming weeks and has been an early choice for Kickstarter’s “Projects We Love”. A demo for Climber: Sky is the Limit will also be featured at the Steam Next Fest on October 1-7, 2021.

Climber: Sky is the Limit offers adventurous players look at the (literal) highs and lows of mountain climbing. Working alongside expert mountaineer Pawel Michalski, Art Games Studio aims to bring players an immersive climbing experience that is as realistic as possible. Choose between multiple legendary mountains including Mount Everest, K2, Broad Peak, and more. Tricky obstacles such as chasms, vertical walls, steep inclines, icy slopes, and crevasses await players in Climber and they’ll need specialized equipment if they want to survive.

Players can vie for sponsorship deals after choosing a mountain to earn money for supplies. Those climbers looking to earn extra money can take on extra challenges such as reaching the summit with no additional oxygen tanks or scaling a summit by moonlight.

Key Features:

  • Planning and survival experience: Realistic graphics and first-person POV allow the player to experience the perils of mountain climbing-without the debilitating cold (no numb fingers here!)

  • So close, yet so far: Persevere through harsh weather conditions, exhaustion, and dangerous slopes to survive

  • Greater the experience, greater the survival: Each expedition is different, re-play to learn from mistakes and reach the summit!

  • Stay on the path: There is more than one route to the top, choose wisely as each path has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages

  • Storm warning: Changes in weather are key, be aware of the best route to take at what time to avoid the worst of the blistering storms

  • Evade icy obstacles: Think fast to scramble for safety against ice walls and slippery slopes with the help of equipment such as ice axes, lifelines, and carabiners

  • Leave no provisions behind: Smart meal planning and preparation are essential to the journey ahead as hunger can greatly diminish stamina and morale

  • Pack smart: Make strategic choices about what to take and what to leave behind-will a pickaxe ensure survival or just add too much weight?
