Giant Free Update, trailer and DLC coming to this indie hit
To celebrate the success of the game and thank the community for their support, Shard Squad has just released a massive free update today called Prismatic Power, available for all players who purchased the game on Steam.
The update arrives as a shadow drop, immediately available to all players, adding new mechanics, characters, stages, balance improvements and dozens of buffs that make each run even more strategic, making Shard Squad bigger and better.
The release of the update is also accompanied by a special trailer celebrating the new content and the growth of the game since its launch.
New systems, characters and stages
One of the main highlights of the update is the Power Up Ball, a new mechanic that appears during matches and allows players to choose temporary buffs if they destroy it before it disappears. There are more than 30 different buffs, expanding strategic possibilities in every run.
The update also introduces two new Prismatic Shards, Apollo and Lance, who share the Judicator synergy, capable of summoning giant hammers that deal area damage as the player progresses during the match.
In addition, two new stages have been added: Momojima Retreat, featuring the return of a boss in its PRIME form, and Nyr Coliseum, a random arena where enemies, events and bosses change every run.
Gameplay and balance improvements
The update also includes adjustments to several synergies and elemental abilities, improvements to the difficulty curve of stages and balance changes to shards, relics and upgrades.
The in-game economy was also adjusted, increasing money gains during runs and adding new ways to obtain rewards.

Wind Character Pack DLC arrives on March 16
As part of the celebration for the game’s success, the Wind Character Pack DLC was also announced and will launch next week on March 16.
The expansion will have a symbolic price of only US$1.99 (values vary by country) and adds:
4 new Wind elemental Shards
Exclusive abilities for each character
New builds and strategic combinations
Full integration with the base game systems
The new characters were designed for players who prefer faster playstyles focused on mobility and area control. One of them is also a collaboration with another well-known game from the survivor genre.
