From Game Jam to Game Dev: HYTOPIA to Award Next Game Jam Winner with Hands On Developer INTERNSHIP

HYTOPIA, the platform for user-generated games, announced today it's offering a new hands-on internship opportunity for aspiring game developers eager to grow their skills and build their portfolio. To be considered, creators must participate in the upcoming HYTOPIA Game Jam on itch.io. No resumes necessary, all games must be made using the voxel-based HYTOPIA SDK and posted on HYTOPIA.

“As bootstrap developers ourselves, both Braydon and I know how challenging it can be to break into games,” said Max Holmes, co-founder of HYTOPIA. “This internship is an opportunity for the next SpyderSammy or Jandel to take their talents to the next level and perhaps get their game featured on the HYTOPIA platform.”

The winner of the HYTOPIA Game Jam will gain real-world experience developing on the platform, working directly with the development team for mentorship, technical guidance, and feedback.

Game jam submissions will be open from Thursday, October 23 at 3pm PT through Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 11:59am PT.

In just seven months since launch, HYTOPIA has attracted more than 143,000 players who have logged over 1.9 million minutes of playtime on the platform. HYTOPIA is a creator-first game platform that blends the freedom of Minecraft with the accessibility of Roblox. Games are built with familiar languages like TypeScript and JavaScript, enabling developers to build and publish cross-platform multiplayer games in days instead of weeks. With the HYTOPIA SDK and Map Editor, creators can focus on design and gameplay while the platform automatically handles all multiplayer and server operations. The platform is currently pre-monetization, allowing creators to master the tools and beta test their games with the growing community.
