FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR Brings Full-Contact Racing to Steam Early Access

Flat2VR Studios is excited to announce that FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR is now available in SteamVR Early Access for $19.99 USD. Developed by Mutar (through the Flat2VR Spark initiative) and published by Impact Inked, this official VR adaptation brings the crash-heavy arcade racing of FlatOut 4: Total Insanity into virtual reality with cockpit play, motion controller steering, wheel, pedal, and manual shifter support, spatialized audio, and DLSS integration.

FlatOut has always been built for speed, metal, debris, and questionable decisions at high velocity. In VR, that chaos moves naturally into the driver’s seat. Cars slam past your window. Pileups unfold at eye level. Near misses cut closer. A crash that once played out across a screen now lands through the windshield, around the cockpit, and directly in your face.

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR launches with an absolutely packed Early Access content lineup, carrying the original game’s destructive race, stunt, assault, arena, and multiplayer mayhem directly into SteamVR headsets. Players can tear through 20 tracks, choose from 29 cars across Derby, Classic, All-stars, and Exclusive categories, launch themselves through 12 stunt events, and wreck their way across 6 arenas. The soundtrack keeps the original FlatOut 4 music intact, giving every race, stunt, and wreck its own hard-hitting backdrop.

Race, Wreck, Crash and Burn Across Multiple Modes

  • Race - Classic FlatOut racing built around speed, collisions, aggressive driving, and destructible track-side chaos.

  • Time Trial - Solo racing against the clock, where cleaner lines and sharper turns matter as much as keeping the car in one piece.

  • Assault - Weaponized racing where players use attacks and dirty tactics to slow down, smash, and survive the competition.

  • Carnage - Score-driven destruction built around wrecks, chaos, and causing as much damage as possible while keeping the run alive.

  • Stunt Mode - Twelve driver-launching stunt events where the car is only part of the problem and the driver becomes the projectile.

  • Arena Mode - Six arenas across Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Survivor, built for demolition-focused competition.

  • Online Multiplayer - Take the wreckage online and race, crash, and compete against up to 7 other players in VR.
