Calling all Wayfairers: indie developer Codex Interactive is excited to launch the first public demo for their debut title, Omen, available now on Steam. Showcasing the first of the Omen’s four acts, the demo invites players to battle their way through the fringes of a fallen empire.
A Macabre Introduction
Humanity has been reduced to The Voidborn, a post-apocalyptic expanse of ex-starfaring civilizations inhabiting broken space stations and nomadic spaceships. Experience Omen’s first act in the new demo, assuming the role of an immortal starship pilot sent to investigate the collapse of the Samarin Empire. Rumours spread of a cosmic anomaly known as The Veil, and it is your responsibility to investigate. Begin your adventure with three enemy bases to raid, and upcycle your hard-earned resources to fabricate dozens of weapon combinations. Three ship types are available to lead your preparations against an incoming raid and Omen’s first boss encounter. Enjoy this macabre introduction to Omen’s four-act starfaring saga.
The Monastery
Omen combines base defense combat, stackable roguelike upgrades, and extraction looter elements for a cross-genre gameplay experience. At the start of the game, you come across the remains of a monastery, a broken-down structure, but suitable enough to use as your base. With the Monastery as your main hub, interact with local NPCs to claim missions, trade for utility items, and build new weapons for your future raids. The Monastery is a prime target for the forces of the Veil, and they will seek to destroy it. Build out your defenses and try to survive brutal waves of enemy onslaught. After successfully defending the Monastery against raiders, choose a perk-known as a blessing-to provide powerful upgrades to your future runs.
Isometric Extraction Experience
When you’re ready to set off, choose an enemy region to target. Extract precious resources before the enemy armada arrives, and keep the fight going to fend off more defensive waves for higher-value resources. Hunt for components and blueprints on enemy bases to bring back your base for new crafting opportunities. Each level boasts mini-objectives for players to complete, challenging players to fight for key rewards-or die trying.

Begin your wayfairing adventure with a set of three enemy territories to loot and raid for precious resources. Return to your base and transform these resources into dozens of weapons, utility items, and defense structures. Three ship types are also available with a variety of configurations to suit your defensive style. No raid comes without a cost, however. Prepare to defend against an incoming horde determined to reclaim their stolen items. Among them is one of the Batarri Horde’s chieftains and Omen’s first boss encounter.
