Co-op Tavern Adventure Meadgard Launches New Demo, Early Access coming November 5th

Hectic co-op tavern sim/action hybrid Meadgard has finally broken ground on Steam with its first public demo.

Following over 44,000 wishlists and successful playtests, eager Vikings can finally get their first sip of mythical mead-based shenanigans.

The gods are in need of a great feast. The Allfather himself, mighty Odin, casts his one good eye upon you and declares, in an earth-rumbling boom… “You’ll do.”

Brandishing pans, maces, and worryingly moist fish, you and up to three other hirsute huskarls must venture into the magic-steeped wilderness and “liberate” ingredients for your banquet from the local wildlife.

Scamper back to your longship with the haste of Sleipnir and as much plunder as you can carry, then set sail back to your town. You may be bruised, you may be ready for a nap worthy of Brynhildr, but the work is not done.

Between you and your straw bed stands a horde of hungry barbarians, also known as “customers”. You must prepare a spread that could satisfy Jörmungandr himself, contending all the while with light-fingered loot goblins and the impending arrival of mythological royalty.

When one of Asgard’s resident gods graces you with their presence, you’ll want to ensure they leave with full bellies and a slaked thirst, or incur their unique brand of wrath.

Meadgard Key Features

  • Chaotic 1–4 player co-op: By tankard, sword, and lute, forge a legend worthy of the mead halls of Valhalla.

  • Push your luck for the best plunder: Dodge giant trolls, hurl eggs and exploding mushrooms at anything that gets too close, and face the trials of the Æsir to receive their blessings.

  • Create the ultimate traveller’s rest: Unlock new crafting recipes and use your earnings to turn a rundown rest stop into an idyllic cozy crossroads. Bring together a ragtag group of NPCs with potent upgrades to sell and their own personal sagas to weave.

  • A raiding party marches on its stomach: Grow crops and brew powerful potions that provide a crucial edge over your legendary enemies.

With the demo also comes the news that Meadgard will be launching into Early Access on November 5th. The previous two playtests provided a wealth of valuable feedback, and shifting to Early Access will give team Oddiko the time and bandwidth required to implement them and continue to grow the game with the community.
