Cave Crave Expands “Real Caves in VR” Initiative with Tham Luang Reveal
Cave Crave, the breakout VR spelunking title by 3R Games, is starting 2026 with a major push forward. The studio has revealed Tham Luang as the next real-world cave coming to VR, launched its first paid supporter DLC, released a major content update - and crossed 110,000 copies sold worldwide.
New real-life map brought to VR: Tham Luang
After the strong reception of the Nutty Putty Cave virtual tour released in 2025, 3R Games is expanding its “Real Caves in VR” initiative with Thailand’s Tham Luang Cave, one of the world’s most widely known underground locations. The cave became globally known following the dramatic 2018 rescue of a teenage football team trapped inside the cave after sudden flooding.
After virtualising Nutty Putty in 2025 with Brandon Kowallis onboard the VR recreation team, 3R Games has invited two experts to collaborate on this project: Vern Unsworth, an experienced cave diver directly involved in the 2018 rescue effort, and Roo Walters, a 3D cave-scanning specialist. Together, they will help ensure that the Tham Luang VR experience is accurate and presented with full cultural and historical context.

“Our goal remains the same,” says 3R Games CEO Piotr Surmacz. “We want to let players experience the scale, atmosphere, and complexity of iconic underground spaces from the inside - without turning real-life events into gameplay.”
The cave will arrive as the second real-life map in Cave Crave’s Tourist Mode, offering a faithful, non-gamified VR recreation. A release date will be announced soon.
