Beyond Blue out now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Dive beneath the waves in E-Line Media’s single-player narrative adventure Beyond Blue, available from today on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game allows players to explore the fascinating mysteries of the ocean’s depths through the eyes of Mirai, a deep-sea explorer and scientist.

Using the same inclusive development process that was used to create E-line Media’s BAFTA Award Winning game Never Alone, the game was made in partnership with BBC Studios, OceanX Media and some of science’s leading ocean experts to craft an experience that encapsulates the awesome wonder and mystery of the oceans and everything in them.

About Beyond Blue
Set against the near-future backdrop of Earth’s oceans, Beyond Blue features the scientific support of real-world exploration and outreach initiative, OceanX, and embracing its minimally invasive exploration techniques. It tells the story of a crew of scientists - led by oceanographers Mirai and André - who set out to test their “Ocean Sense Network,” which has the power to literally shine a light on the unexplored depths of the ocean as they unravel its endless mysteries.

Focusing on the Western Pacific Ocean amid a large multispecies gathering of cetaceans and other creatures, players will step into the shoes (and flippers) of Mirai, as they use technology to better understand the urgent threats facing these blue depths.

At the same time, Beyond Blue will feature never-before-seen footage licensed from BBC StudiosBlue Planet II, expanding upon the game’s story and educating players about the social and emotional lives of these whales - the creatures with the biggest brains on the planet.

Beyond Blue Features:

  • An evocative narrative with full voice cast - Anna Akana (YouTube), Mira Furlan (Lost, Babylon 5), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails, Hotel Rwanda), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4)

  • Exploration and adventure within a realistic untouched world

  • Sixteen unique mini-documentaries called Ocean Insights that feature original footage and interviews with science’s leading ocean experts

Beyond Blue is available from £15.49 / $19.99 / €16.79 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Beyond Blue is also available through the Apple Arcade subscription service, playable across compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and Apple TV devices.
