Top 10 Next Fest survival townbuilder ‘Romestead’ hits over 100k active players, public demo extended

Today at the Future Games Show Live from GDC, indie publisher and industry veterans Three Friends revealed that the survival townbuilder Romestead will have its public demo extended to March 19th. This follows Romestead’s huge success in the latest Steam Next Fest, which saw the game rise to the Top 10 most played demos, reach over 100k active players, and jump to over 230k wishlists.

Developed by Swedish studio Beartwigs, Romestead tasks up to eight players to rebuild Ancient Rome following its mysterious demise. Daring challengers must explore harsh environments, find survivors and put them to work, and please the many gods with various tributes to earn their blessings. This is no easy feat, as Romestead’s world is home to dangerous enemies, both undead and living, alongside legendary foes that must be defeated to continue the journey.

Romestead offers a fresh take on the beloved survival genre, cutting the tedium and concentrating the most fun elements to deliver an experience that allows players to thrive. This includes minimising the need for inventory management, making resource gathering more interactive, and doing away with tool durability, just to name a few.
