Bancho The Chef Gets a "Dev Dive" in Latest Mintrocket Showcase
Following the surprise reveal announcement at the PlayStation State of Play on June 2nd, Bancho The Chef got some exciting screentime during Mintrocket’s Dev Dive showcase, where Head of Studio Jaeho Hwang shared even more about what players can expect from the Dave the Diver prequel.
Bancho The Chef is a standalone prequel to Dave the Diver that focuses solely on the enigmatic chef, Bancho. The story takes place 19 years before Dave the Diver, back when Bancho was still learning the culinary arts (and still had hair!). Players will journey with Bancho as he travels through various cities across Asia, studying the art of seafood cuisine from a wide range of masters.
More specifically, in each city, Bancho will work under a local chef in their own restaurant, learning new dishes and preparing delicious meals for customers. But to do that, Bancho will also adventure and explore, studying and gathering various ingredients. Once Bancho has mastered a particular style, he will participate in a local challenge before moving on to a new region to repeat the process, gaining invaluable experience and skills with each lesson.
Mintrocket has confirmed PlayStation 5 and PC as the two main platforms so far, and will make extensive use of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, allowing players to feel the tactile sensation of real cooking techniques.
