Asthenia is a dark fantasy adventure set in a decaying otherworld plagued by a mysterious corrupting disease. Players step into a bleak dimension ruled by ancient entities, shaped by loss, and slowly collapsing under the weight of an endless war.
You play as Adam, an ordinary man cast into this world alongside other humans. To survive, Adam must confront distorted foes, uncover tainted artifacts, and navigate hostile environments ranging from abandoned towns and industrial ruins to forgotten temples. Resources are scarce, danger is constant, and every decision carries weight as Adam searches for answers, and a way back to the one he loves.

Combat focuses on deliberate, close-range encounters using the Ancient Gauntlet, a primordial relic that doubles as both weapon and tool for interacting with the environment. With no maps or quest markers, Asthenia challenges players to rely on observation, memory, and intuition to progress.

Storytelling unfolds through environmental details, fragmented letters, unsettling sound cues, visual symbolism, and Adam’s own narration.
Drawing tonal inspiration from Resident Evil 7, Silent Hill, Outlast, and Dark Souls, Asthenia blends oppressive atmosphere, lore-rich worldbuilding, and non-handholding design into a deeply personal journey through decay, loss, and transformation.
“Asthenia was born from a deeply personal place,” said Manthos Lappas, solo developer of Asthenia.
“I wanted to create a world that feels oppressive, mysterious, and alive - where discovery is earned, not handed to the player, and where every action carries real weight.”
