All Aboard! Enginefall’s Major Public Playtest Starts Today

Red Rover Interactive, a new independent studio with industry veterans from Funcom and Bohemia Interactive, launches its next major playtest for their upcoming massive PvP survival extraction game Enginefall. Starting today until October 26th, players can attempt to survive life on the tracks in a post-apocalyptic, player-driven railworld.

Since the last major playtest took place in June, Red Rover Interactive has introduced a new Dagger Shuttle, a mobile personal home base, and made significant improvements to the player experience following player feedback, including the introduction of a new practice train where you can polish your skills, making this the best time to test the game.

Enginefall is a new PvP survival extraction game, with a heavy focus on social fast-paced gameplay. Players, known as “Freerailers,” are tasked with rising through the classes to take over the train and become the conductor, fight off challengers, and extract with all the juicy loot. Enginefall features deep survival FPS combat that blends crafting with on-the-go decision making as players make and break alliances, build makeshift bases, and advance through increasingly violent train carriages. Every choice and every carriage can bring new deadly consequences to aspiring Freerailers. Players must choose to work hard for their spoils or steal and fight in the race to survive and thrive.

The Playtest Journey
The Enginefall journey begins with an assault on the third class of a Titan Train, a colossal mega-train rich with resources harvested from the ruined world. How players approach the raid is up to them as they board either solo or in teams of up to five players. From the precarious position of Third Class, players will then have to fight tooth and nail to gain access to higher classes, acquiring tools and weapons and facing escalating resources and threats.

Raiding a Titan Train is a major undertaking - players are matchmade into 5-hour long sessions in which they’ll have to survive, scavenge and eventually evacuate in traditional PvP survival crafting manner.

Upon successful extraction, each player is transported to their personal Dagger Shuttle, a mobile personal home base that is travelling alongside the Titan Train and serves as living quarters to show off plush new digs to teammates. The Dagger Shuttle is a safe haven from the frantic chaos and rail grinding of the Titan Train and provides a moment of respite and reflection.

This weekend playtest will, for the first time, also feature long term progression, giving players a chance to experience Enginefall’s full gameplay loop of raiding the Titan Train, attempting a coup, successfully extracting and reaping their rewards back at their Dagger Shuttle as they upgrade, craft and tinker.

Future updates will introduce additions such as Marauder Trains, player-owned trains that will serve as persistent homes for large friend groups and clans to build and customize. The Marauder Trains will feature various enhanced community systems, tech trees, upkeep, and advanced raiding opportunities. These trains will also host Enginefall’s late-game matchmade cross-server raiding systems, allowing clans to assault other Marauder Trains for loot, prestige, and the chance to wipe a rival off the rails.

Key Gameplay Features

  • Fast-Paced Survival Crafting Gameplay - Less grind, more combat, and the opportunity to overcome almost any setback. Fight to become the Conductor and extract with precious Fuel Cores in a BR-light race to the top, or find your own niche to gather resources for your next Dagger upgrade.

  • Long-Term Progression & Extraction - When you are done with your run, extract your hard won loot and use it to upgrade your character for future runs. Never get offline raided again, and make even short play sessions drive long-term goals.

  • Emergent Social Experiences - Local voice chat and close quarters mean that you are never far away from a potential enemy or ally. Work together with others to overthrow enemies entrenched in the higher classes, or chase down every chance for chaos and comedy.
